Negombo & Airport Corridor

Beach town living fifteen minutes from the international airport — a favourite for expats, aviation staff and guesthouse investors.

The area

Negombo runs along a long stretch of west-facing beach with the lagoon behind it. The tourist strip is concentrated on Lewis Place and Porutota Road; the rest is a working fishing town with a large Catholic population and a very active local property market.

What you can buy

Two distinct buyers: people who want to be near the airport, and people buying guesthouse or short-let stock on the beach road. Prices drop sharply a kilometre inland, which is where most family housing sits.

Check flood history near the lagoon and drainage on any low-lying plot before committing.

  • Guesthouses and short-let apartments on the beach road
  • Family housing inland toward Kochchikade and Katana
  • Land still available within the airport corridor

Getting around

Bandaranaike International Airport is roughly fifteen to twenty minutes by road, and the Colombo–Katunayake Expressway makes central Colombo about forty-five minutes outside peak. The Puttalam line railway also serves the town.
